Rosenow Creek Workday

Rosenow Creek Workday and Electrofishing Demonstration

Saturday July 18th 9 am - noon

Rosenow Creek is a little known trout stream conveniently located in Waukesha county. This little gem of a stream had long been cared for by local school teacher Mike Olander and his students.

Since Mike’s retirement several years ago, the DNR and SEWTU have stepped up to serve as stewards of the creek.

On Saturday, July 18th, we will return to Rosenow Creek to continue the great work that Mike started so many years ago.

Under DNR guidance we will be clearing some large fallen tree trunks (chainsaw work), brush and debris from the stream.  Additionally we will be raking out the invasive weed elodea.  Members should bring waders, garden rakes, and working gloves.

We will meet at the small parking lot behind Nature Hill Intermediate School at the corner of North Lapham St. and Park View Drive.

The workday will be followed by an electrofishing demonstration.

If you've never witnessed one before, this is a great opportunity to see the DNR in action.

Afterwards, we'll have our traditionalBrat Fry lunch for all the volunteers.

Please note that the stream is on school property and therefore no liquor is allowed.

Please RSVP to Ken Rizzo at riz2337@yahoo.com if you plan to attend so we can purchase and prepare the appropriate amount of food.
