May Workday! May 15th

Saturday May 15th - McKeawn Springs location only- 9am-NOON

On SATURDAY MAY 15th, we will be working only at McKeawn Springs location in the South Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest.  McKeawn Springs is located just south of the Piper Road intersection of Piper Road and State Highway 67 in the south unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest.  Look for the TU signs along the road.  Parking is very limited at the site.  There is parking south of the worksite at a parking lot.  If necessary we will shuttle volunteers between parking lot and worksite.

Following DNR COVID protocol, we should avoid gathering closely in groups of 10 people or more, initially wear a mask, and please social distance.  Besides the normal workday waiver you will be required to sign a COVID release form before beginning work.  RSVP Ken Rizzo at riz2337@yahoo.com if you plan on attending this workday.  We need an estimate of the volunteers participating to determine the scope of work.

The springs was dredge earlier this year and the DNR has completed the rough landscaping around the springs.
Brook Trout have been stock in the springs in March.   SEWTU will complete the finishing landscaping work in the area including cutting back brush for better back casting, planting some native trees, and moving some mulch.  Participants should bring work gloves and safety glasses.  We will be using rakes, shovels, and loppers.  We have a limited supply of tools in the TU trailer.  You can bring you own if you desire to ensure enough supply for the group. You will probably not need waders but would have them in your vehicle just in case.

If you so desire you can also bring your fishing rod for afterwards.  There will be no brat fry following the work.  Some of us will gather for an unofficial social gathering at The Bark River Yacht Club in Dousman after the day.  Address is 136 N Main St, Dousman, WI 53118.  More information will be released via email as it becomes available.
