Scuppernong River Workday

Saturday, May 11th, 2019 - 9:00am

Saturday May 11th at 9 AM we are returning to Scuppernong River (across the street from Ottawa Lake Campground) to continue our restoration work.

The work will involve back brushing and installing more biologs. We will use loppers, powered brush cutters, and chain saws to cut brush in addition to using sledge hammers to install biologs.

We also need a few members take pictures, help run tools, and bring water from the staging site to the work site.  Workers should bring waders, loppers, and work gloves.

Additionally OutWiGo is holding a girls fishing clinic across the street on Ottawa Lake. One of the activities will be to hike the Scuppernong River Trail.  We are looking for volunteers to show fly tying, fly fishing techniques or just explain the Scuppernong River project & habitat improvement techniques. This is a great educational opportunity for these young outdoor enthusiasts.
