Ulao Creek Workday

Ulao Creek Workday October 11

The joint workday organized By Matt Aho and his staff at Ozaukee County Fish Passage had  50 to 60 volunteers from six different organizations involved in tree planting at the Ulao creek headwaters. Approximately 20 of those were SEWTU members and their guests.  We had 42 volunteers sign our waiver. The day started very cool which was good due to the hard work of cutting through the Canary Reed  grass and digging to get enough dirt to mound up around the plants.

The successful workday was coordinated by Matt Aho with the assistance of August Hoppe and Paul Helms, the local land owners active with Ulao Creek Partnership (UCP). Other organizations having volunteers active were UW Milwaukee, Americorps NCCC, Ozaukee Washington Land Trust (OWLT) and Milwaukee Riverkeepers.
